Biography[]
Retirement and death[]
After the virus consumes humanity, Gladys lead the medical battle against the disease, and attempted to find a cure for the virus. She opened a practice and joined leagues with Douglas Abbott, the leader of the Last Men. Working with the Last Men, Gladys experimented and dissected hybrid children in an attempt to understand their DNA and, somehow, create a cure that could be used by humans to battle the virus. Glady's efforts were relatively successful, however, and she was able to synthesise a booster shot that would allow someone, namely Rani Singh, to live with the virus for an extended period of time. The booster needed to be injected at regular intervals, however.
Douglas talks with Gladys shortly before her death.
After finding out that she had stage four cancer, Gladys retired from her position as researcher to live and die at home. She passed her lifes work and research to Adi, whom she had known from previously working together. Despite Adi's reluctance to engage in the same methods as Glady's, she reminded him that he would do whatever it took to save his wife, and therefore was required to carry on her work.
When Douglass found out that Glady's had retired from the employ of the Last Men and passed the book to Adi, he was furious. He and the other Last Men confronted Gladys in her home and questioned her about her health. Abbot remarked that she was faking her illness and demanded to know more about the book containing her research. She was murdered moments later by Abbot.[1]
Personality[]
Little is known about Glady's personality, except that she was prepared to go to extreme lengths to find a cure for the virus. Her methods were controversial, however, and included experimenting and dissecting hybrid children to study them. These methods eventually led to the creation of the booster shot, but Adi was reluctant to continue her research after reading the documentation pertaining to her methods.
