Neil Sandilands is a South African actor and filmmaker, known for roles in both film and television and for his versatility in filmmaking. He portrayed the character of Douglas Abbot from Season 1 until Season 2 of the Netflix series Sweet Tooth.

General overview[]

Sandilands speaks both English and his native language, Afrikaans[1]. In film, Sandilands was most recently seen starring as Wilhelm Leonberger opposite Tom Hanks in Universal Pictures' Academy Award nominated feature News of the World (2020) directed by Paul Greengrass. Then in July 2022, Sandilands was nominated as best supporting actor by the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA) for his work in DAM (Showmax) as well as a South African Music Award (SAMA) for best adult contemporary Afrikaans album for his debut album "Sangoma Sandilands & Jou Pa se Posse - Maanskyn". On August 19, 2020, Sandilands was initially cast in an undisclosed capacity, but later revealed to be a recurring role.[2]. By March 2023, Sandilands along with Naledi Murray and Marlon Williams were promoted to series regulars while Christopher Cooper Jr. and Yonas Kibreab joined the cast as series regulars for the second season[3].
