Netflix Inc. is an American media company based in Los Gatos, California. Founded in 1997 by Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph in Scotts Valley, California, it operates the over-the-top subscription video on-demand service Netflix brand, which includes original films and television series commissioned or acquired by the company, and third-party content licensed from other distributors. Netflix is a member of the Motion Picture Association—having become the first streaming company to become a member.

The series had originally been given a pilot order by Hulu to be produced by Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey's Team Downey with co-creator Jim Mickle and Warner Bros. TV.[1] It was later announced that the series has been moved from Hulu to Netflix.[2] On May 12, 2020, Netflix ordered an eight-episode series to Sweet Tooth and the creative team still on the project.[3] The series is produced by Team Downey in association with Warner Bros. TV Production was set to begin in September 2020.[4]
Season 1 was released on June 4, 2021. Season 2 finished production on June 6, 2022, and aired on April 27, 2023.[5][6] On May 3, 2023, it was revealed that Sweet Tooth was renewed for a third and final season by Netflix. [7]
On July 20, 2021, Netflix revealed that the series has been watched by 60 million households since its June 4 release.[8]
